This sounds promising. Let's hope this is real news and not just marketing fluff.rebekale wrote:New fingerworks products in 2-3 months?
I got this as a response from one of the vendors:
Your email was forwarded to me regarding Fingerworks Touchstream
keyboard. Unfortunately, we don't have any Fingerworks products in
stock. They are re-designing their products. The lead time they have
given us is approx. 2-3 months. Please don't hesitate to contact the
manufacturer directly should have any additional questions or concerns
about the product.
So i'm hoping this means a new touchstream by August at the latest.

It's great if this is true, but I'm not getting my hopes up TOO much yet:
1) It's one response from a reseller, in contrast to the numerous resellers reporting that there's no hope.
2) If they DO go back into business in a few months, they've lost credibility with a lot of resellers, not to mention with us. They'll have quite a job to do rebuilding their reputation, no matter how great their products are.

I hope I never work for a dying company
... at some point it becomes impossible to keep to your promises unless you (and everyone else) are willing to work for nothing. And people who've lost their jobs have other things on their minds.
Anyway, I hope this latest rumour is true. If so, I will be first in line to buy one... well, first in line to read the reviews, anyway. There are several ways they could break it
... including limiting customisation and making it OS specific. On the other hand there are several areas for improvement, so there's at least a chance that it'd be a good thing.

I'm with ivanw.
The company that has "bought" (note past tense), has really screwed this whole thing up. I can't imagine a worse transition in business. I'm looking for an appology on the front-page of the website from the new owners before I'll feel comfortable about FW again. Why all the secrecy anyway? Just put up something on the front page of the FW site saying, "Wow, we did not plan the move well at all! Sorry about that. We hope to start reproducing the kybrds by the summer." But no; all we get is this cloak and dagger NDA bs...

Not sure if it is related but I spotted this this morning.

It looks like it is a multi touch technology look alike at least.

looks to me like a strange hybrid of a fingerworks pad and a wacom cintiq. bundle on top of that about $1000 of custom music software, and you've got the Lemur!
not what i'm looking for, though, so i'm still downright bummed at the whole fingerworks-held-hostage-and-not-saying-so that seems to be going on still.

The Lemur was discussed a while back in the old forum. Here are some links if you want to read up on that:
