Linux (Ubuntu) with Fingerworks iGesture Pad
I am just wondering if Fingerworks iGesture Pad would work on Linux desctop. I am very interested in this device. However, I am not sure if it would work as expected. Please, advise!!!

Yes, all FingerWorks devices work equally well on Linux as they do on Mac and Windows. Just plug it in and it works, simple as that.
You only need to run the FingerWorks software if you want to change the devices' configuration, and unfortunately the software hasn't been updated for a while and doesn't work on the 2.6 kernel. See here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2857&p=5881#p5881
You need either a 2.4 kernel, or a virtual machine with any similarly old OS -- see here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2861#p5892
