static electricity

igestures seem to be sensitive to static electricity. mine stops working for a moment every time i move it on my lap. Anyone have tips or advice about that?

Static electricity is more or less what makes the FW boards work in the first place, so naturally they're sensitive to it. It's mentioned in the manual that you can "reset" the board by briefly placing a flat hand on the surface. When you do that, the cursor moves in a quick diamond shape on the screen to show that it reset its sensors.

Usually you only need to "palm" the board when you come back to the board after being away from it (to ground yourself). If you need to reset very often, look for other sources of interference that you could move away a bit: nearby cell phones, fluorescent lights, radio emitters, etc.
