Replacing ribbon cable - tips, photos?

Postby fubar » 22 Oct 2005, 21:44

Top-left of my touchstream LP is non-responsive. I suspect mechanical damage to the ribbon cable (though I haven't tested the electrical connections yet).

I have replacement cable, thanks to posts on the old board.

It looks difficult to replace, though.

What tool do you use to unplug the old one? Does anybody have instructions or tips on how to do this??

Help much appreciated.

I think its a compression fitting. If you have the appropriate replacement ribbon, it should be a simple thing.

Erm, when I had to replace my ribbon cable I just gently pulled the broken one out and then replaced it. Note, the replacement I fitted is not routed via the slots in the side, but simply pushes directly into the connectors on the back. It seems to work fine and because I do not transport the keybaord anymore the cable never comes out.

Hope this helps.
