VISTA

Talk about the weather, movies, whatever -- just not FW stuff.

VISTA

Post by lee griggs »

I was just wondering if anyone has used the beta version of Vista with their fingerworks keyboards and whether they had any revelations/problems? :)

I installed the public beta and used the iGesture NumPad. It was exactly the same as on XP, though I didn't try to install the FW software or even try making changes and loading them to the device.

I then formatted the disk and installed the trusty old XP again, because it's just as good and runs much faster! Vista is visually nice, but drenched in security (almost to the point of "are you sure you want to click on this icon?"), so it's a plain nuisance to set anything up. Add to that the extreme hardware requirements, and it just doesn't make sense to use Vista. Stay with XP unless there's some really really good argument pro-Vista (which I'd like to hear).

any improvements to workflow?

Post by lee griggs »

Hi Torben, did you notice any benefits for us fingerworks users?

ie I imagine the new search function will mean that it will be possible to find and open files simply by typing them and therefore not have to use the mouse. ie

-four finger 2 handed tap on home row, would bring up the search option
-type the program you want
-hit enter gesture

all without using the mouse??

also, what about the flashy new alt tab ? I use this gesture all the time, whereas most people I know that use a regular keyboard and mouse dont use it.

Im just looking at ways to show off my keyboard basically :)

Hey, Launchy looks nice -- except it uses the Alt+Space shortcut  that I use a lot (to minimize windows). Since that's not adjustable (or is it?), I won't be using the program after all.
