Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

David, I think you are running in XP Mode, which means the utilities are still run in the XP machine, the display of the app is just redirected to the Win7 desktop where Win7 controls the window format. However, because it is still technically running in the VM, teh same limitations apply as running...

Re: This device's gest. conf. seems to be missing!!

The 1.60 version that includes Java is over 20MB. It may be posted on the wiki, but that is probably down. I believe Torben has a copy, but I do as well. If you have somewhere I can send it to you, let me know.

That's scary. Can you try re-installing the 1.6 firmware?

Re: Burgundy TouchStream LP Dvorak on eBay

I had two primary devices, one broke and I bought another. Rather than having it suffer the same fate, I am reselling it (hopefully not at a loss, but if only one bidder, at a loss). I will probably resell the broken device too, since it is semi-functional and good for spare parts.

Re: 8 Digitouch on eBay

If only I had $800 to risk or blow, that seems like a double-your-money propositon (with patience, of course, assuming demand doesn't drop off). Alternatively, I could mount one on either side of every keyboard I have to get TS-like functionality and still have spares.

Re: 8 Digitouch on eBay

I think it is 1 for 800. The description shows what you get and states 1 of ... for several things including the keyboard. I imagine the seller meant to list all 8 at $800 each (in a single listing where you can buy any quantity up to the 8 available) and didn't get something quite right.

Re: Dead Qwerty TouchStream LP for sale...

The picture on that auction is a TouchStream ST, not an LP. I don't know what is compatible between them, but I know the ribbon cable is different and removing and replacing it would probably be more of a pain, plus finding a replacement probably would too.

Re: New Kickstarter project that looks promising

That all sounds great, but the renderings make the thing look like the antithesis of ergonomic. They said they're going to slap a wrist pad on it, but a wrist pad doesn't magically make something ergonomic. It looks to me like it would just hurt to use, not to mention that it has the standard stagge...

Re: Where are the multi touch keyboards?

Personally, I think Apple and patents are working together to hinder innovation here. We keep seeing new patents from Apple, and they live 15 years from the date they are created. I'm pretty sure patents created fro technology that existed before the patent was applied for are bogus, but it is possi...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

Yes, my brain works the same way in general, just with an odd blip every now and again. Sometimes I'll be on a regular keyboard, try to type in Dvorak, know what I did, and then just switch. Other times I'll be on a TS, try to type in Qwerty, know what I did, and then just switch. The problem is tha...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

I bought my first Dvorak LP from FingerWorks directly, I've been typing Dvorak ever since. I can touch type Dvorak and Qwerty fine, but sometimes my brain mixes the layouts together and I have to look to find anything. My point here is that I'm not going to learn it better, I just can't always think...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

I've been checking e-bay, but like I said, it died less than a week after the most recent auction, and I think the dvorak model is rare, so I might end up stuck on a typematrix or a maltron or something. :/ I know it's very easy to switch between programmed layout, but I have to look down at the key...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

Well, I cleaned the surface of the pad and it wasn't as bad. It's still not really useable, because I get sporadic keypress detections from the left side and phantom keypresses and phantom heel tap (I use the heel of my hand, it seems like the correct use might be the side of the hand, but heel work...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

I'll give that a try. Hopefully I'll subsequently wish I tried it first. Also, since I believe I failed to mention it in the original post, it passes all diagnostic tests even when it is acting erratic like that (while the problem that is often solved by replacement of the ribbon cable includes a la...

Trouble with my TS LP

The TS LP that I use at work has been giving me little bits of trouble for a long time. I never really thought about it, but I don't have near as much trouble with the one I use at home. Anyway, recently, the normal 5x palm touch and unplug replug procedures didn't help. It is only the left side, so...

What about the ribbon cable? Isn't that section appearing intermittently dead usually due to the ribbon cable?

Re: Annoying automatic left/right hand recognition, iGesture

If it's always that same gesture that throws it off and the hand size thing doesn't work, you could try rotating the pad a bit to help it look more like the appropriate hand. Obviously this could potentially affect other gestures, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Running multitouch utilities in Lion

Dan, What kind of hiccups did you see? I am interested in testing this with the latest version of Java a bit more (at least on XP, however irrelevant that testing might be). I don't have any compilation experience in Windows, but I'd at least like to know what to look for in case I ever cut over to ...

Technically, your answer is no longer on-topic :) as it's not about Lion but Windows. I'd say we need a Windows thread with your content, plus a Linux thread with something in it too. But I'm too lazy to do that right now. I know. You're not the only one who is lazy. Technically this thre...

Re: Running multitouch utilities in Lion

I know nothing about Java other than Windows sucks at it (or Sun sucked at Windows, depending on how you look at it, realistically, I'm sure Microsoft and Sun should share the blame on the fact that the language runs horribly in Windows). However, I was able to get this method working in Windows (XP...

Re: Running multitouch utilities in Lion

Torben, when he says "the board won't accept .sh files" he means he can't upload the file here. A .sh file is like a .bat file, so that may be a built in safety thing, or it may be something you should fix. Regardless, having only read this post, it sounds like he's just loading the same o...
