Wow, thenn, this is a find. congrats and hoorahs all around. On the spare chip end of things, I have received a response from one of the companies, the one that had 6 chips. They are priced at $6 each. Probably a rip off, if that was the real price the TS boards would have cost twice as much. Howeve...

Seems like we have lots of CAD users in here. Me too. I am an architect and just use vanilla AutoCAD, 2006. Over the years I've adopted some of AutoCADs more interesting features into a system for using 3D modeling in both design and documentation. I start in using 3D modeling from the very beginnin...

I figure if I can get them, at least they won't just be thrown out someday after years of collecting dust in a bin in some warehouse some place. I'd think the current owners would be glad to get some cash, any amount, for them instead of just leaving them lying about. As to if we can ever use them, ...

Well, I already live on the other side of the world in a fabulous tropical paradise location and my wife is with me. So, I googled the part numbers and came up with some leads. Here's a listing of stock: http://www.hkinventory.com/public/OfferInventResult.asp?Order=1&pnums=+FWSEN16A+&crit1=&...

Or just willing and able to keep their identity secure. That shouldn't be too difficult. But for the diagrams, it should be possible to reverse engineer one of these boards, not to build it, but simply to understand how it works. Of course, we would never consider even thinking about using reverse e...

Traumatic experience? Are you kidding, I would have had a heart attack. I freak out when it doesn't respond to the scroll gesture when I don't realize its at the bottom of the page. Anyway, yes, thanks for the post. One more bit of behaviour described and especially how it was dealt with. That's wha...

Not making fun, more like comiserating with my fellow addicts. You are right about the tablets. If I were to ever lose my TSs, my first choice would be for a tablet again. I'd still need a keyboard for typing, but at least I would have more than 3 buttons to work with. Might even be able to use the ...

I don't know what those chips cost, but I'll put up at least $200 and perhaps more, to buy some and make them available to the community. This might include any non-working boards that might have some good chips still on them. Which is why I believe the FWians were offering partial refunds on non-wo...

Poor tortured souls.

There may come a day when we will have to include an intervention and detox service for those that become overwhelmed with TouchStreamism.

TouchStreamers Anonymous anyone?

You have my sympathy. I just went through the scare of potentially losing one of my boards, its not a good thing. One small ray of hope, we do have some very talented folks working on figuring out how these blessed devices work in detail and that may lead to solutions for problems like yours. Best o...

Turns out my supposed USB2 hub is not. I reported the cable to the Dell monitor (which is USB2) and my No.1 is working just fine off that. Still no action off the Shuttle's front USB ports, but as I said, those are notorious for under-volting. One of the many reasons I would not go with a Shuttle ag...

Okay, I tried the No.2 in the monitor USB ports and got the same 'unrecognized device' notice. That may be because they seem to be running at 1.1 instead of 2. not sure why.

Odd TS behavior

Here's one for you wizards: My No.1 board, a silver qwerty TS suddenly stopped working on my main computer, a Shuttle SN95G5 with XP Pro SP2, etc. etc. It was just setting there idle and when I picked it up, it didn't work. I don't think there was any static, it as a very rainy day with about 99.9% ...

I think it was just some morons on drugs that got caught up in the moment. I figure when they come down and realize what they did, they'll renege on the deal. On the other hand, just a couple of weeks ago, one auction ended without a bid with the minimum at $500. Auctions are like that, people get c...

iGesture cursor lock

I occasionally get a similar event on my TS when I tap either the Caps Lock and lately the num lock. Its usually infrequent, though occassionally its a really pesky problem. I can also go weeks without a glitch.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue what causes it or what to do about it.

"The less you are ready to work hard at learning how to use it, the more you are likely to find something better." - ivanw I think that pretty much goes for nearly anything. In other words, you usually get back what you put into it. Applies to TS, software, computers in general, relationships, whate...

"You Win" by ivanw What does he win? I looked at the soft-and-hard-ware he refers to, yeah, its an alternative, but I don't see how its any better or even equivalent. Maybe it works for martin but certainly not for me, mostly because its back to two different input devices. That's one of the greates...

Well, jwr will be getting his $100 as soon as the transfer to my Paypal account completes. I do agree with you ivan, money often does get in the way, though I believe its the people and their expectations and not some inherent aspect of money itself. In effect, money is just virtualized work or food...

Couldn't that Volume Up/Down be directed to something other than the sound system? If so, you have it. I don't see where you need to know existing state, just that you want to increase/decrease that state. Like the infinite volume controls, twist to the right, volume increases, twist to the left, vo...

Don't know of anything off-hand but its got to be possible. This would apply not only to numbers but any field or list. As such it would be extremely useful in lots of ways.

Great idea Lee.
