I have had another go at getting the programmers' pad working on my QWERTZ touchstream. I have selected the option but it doesn't appear to work. Any ideas? Is there something that could be overriding the setting?

Event log error
I use my Touchstream at work. Recently I have been experiencing crashes on my PC and went to talk to our IT support department. They checked the Windows 2000 event log and spotted repeated warnings for my keyboard: "The driver has detected that this HID keyboard has bad firmware. It is issuing redun...

Re: Replacing ribbon cable - tips, photos?
Top-left of my touchstream LP is non-responsive. I suspect mechanical damage to the ribbon cable (though I haven't tested the electrical connections yet). I have replacement cable, thanks to posts on the old board. It looks difficult to replace, though. What tool do you use to unplug the old one? D...

Programmers Pad
Hi, I am trying to make my two Touchstreams behave the same way. One is a DVORAK model and the other is a QWERTZ. It appears that sending the two keyboards the same file does not result in the same behaviour. I have had to swap the Y and Z keys, but can't seem able to get the punct pad to work on my...

This brings up my suggestions. First, I would prefer more space between the boards, at least the option. Plus the ribbon cable currently used is really ridiculous, ribbon cables in friction connections were never intended for and should never be used for a mechanical connection. This is a major sou...

Re: Windows 64
Is anyone using their TS on Window 64? Does it work because it emulates a standard mouse and keyboard USB device or does it need a diver? Nomaded, thanks for the information. That sounds like good news (at least the product can be used). Also apologies for my terrible typos in the original post. Mu...

Re: malfunctioning
Could anybody help with this? On the left side of my TS some of the keys don't work since yesterday. The "MultiTouch System Diagnostics" reports that 320 sensors are malfunctioning on the left side. :?: shosolosa, I had this problem and as Torben said, I managed to fix it myself by replacing the ri...

Re: I found one!
I guess four hours of scouring google and clicking on and emailing link on the internet with `Fingerworks' paid off... Ergonetics had _one_ burgundy Touchstream LS until five minutes ago when I paid for it :D We have 1 in stock out of box never used but does not have any paperwork. It’s just be sit...

Re: Ask Wayne
You don't win product awards - for the new Winpad - see http://www.cesweb.org/attendees/awards/innovations/rd_2005honorees.asp?category=47 and then a few months later abandon the company. My guess is that Apple will continue with the products Fingerworks started. Does anyone know what innovations w...

I have an inkjet color printer, which has the benefit that I can make colored paper overlays, but with the downsides you mention. Perhaps one should experiment with printing on overhead foils of varying texture to see if that's a closer match to the original surface? I have not done this myself bec...

Re: Functionally Identical
functionally indentical? i.e. the only difference between them is what is printed on the surface. Yes, the physical product is exactly the same - the only difference being a) the print on the surface (it's actually on the backside of the transparent surface) b) the firmware revision which you can u...

Re: Is there any hope?
My touchstream LP died this morning. The left hand side of the keyboard has stopped working. Although annoyed I thought, not to worry I'll contact fingerworks and get it repaired, or if the worst comes to the worst, I'll buy a nice new silver one. Then I discovered that Fingerworks may have been bo...

Functionally Identical
Am I right in thinking that the Touchstreams are functionally indentical? i.e. the only difference between them is what is printed on the surface. In which case I assume I can set an Qwertz German model to DVORAK mode and it will behave correctly. Aslo has anyone had any luck printing new covers for...

The current uncertainty about FingerWorks has also made me look around for alternatives to my currently dead Touchstream. Unfortunately, while there is nothing out there that is quite like a Touchstream, one thing I have come across that is quite interesting is the DX1 input system: http://www.ergod...

Interesting Article (historical)
While searching (unsuccessfully) reseller that still has Touchstreams I came across the following historical article. Someone may be interested:

If you live in the UK you can get a new touchstream from http://www.meltones-media.co.uk/index.html, they've still got some in stock Thanks for the info. However, I rang them earlier today and was informed they no longer had any in stock (although I did not speak to the person who runs the business).

ivanw, thanks for the comments. It's good to know other users are out there and are also concerned. It does indeed appear as if Touchstream keyboards are now virtually impossible to get hold of (at least at the moment) - which is very sad considering what a great product they are and how much many o...

A quick update. I went to the main forum and researched about the ribbon cable problems. I found that there is info on how to replace the ribbon cable posted there (part HF26U-XX (XX=03 for 3 inch cable) - from www.digikey.com). So I have just placed an order (for a few spare too). Bit expensive fro...

Left side of Touchstream LP is dead
Hi,
The left hand side of my Touchstream LP has died. Any clues as to how I might fix it (all sensors are reported as low on that side in diagnostics)? With the current supply uncertainty I may be forced to try to fix it myself.
Regards,
Max
