Dittos to what ivanw said. This is like having the family history for an untreatable fatal disease and then someone tells you there is a treatment that works. Its a reprieve! I hope I am not sounding to dramatic, but I really don't think I could go back to using a regular keyboard and mouse. It woul...

Wow!! Congrats and Fabs! Please keep the name and number of who did the repairs, just in case. How? Not to be nosy or anything but ... .... What did they do? Simply replace the bad Xilinx FPGA? If so, where did they get them? I am assuming since you stored the Read data you needed to program them or...

On the cable length and replacement, I am right there with you. I am not up to chancing my TS unnecessarily, but if the cable goes, it will get (or at least will be attempted) replaced with 6" or so. It would have been so nice if they had just put locking ports in place of the cables. Oh well, hey, ...

That's been my hangup as well. I think the solution is to buy a cheap wireless mouse or keyboard and cannibalize it. Seems nobody makes a transmitter dongle, just receivers. One other option is a wireless USB hub. Belkin makes one, several others as well. Unfortunately, you are still left with the n...

I agree, I'd much prefer a wider spacing. I have quite broad shoulders (I am such a manly man) so it does feel like I am squinching myself up. As for the stand, since I seriously type pretty much in one place, a new stand is not a problem. I am thinking of making a new platform for my TS, one with a...

Or it just takes that long for the paint to dry after the boys in Nigeria get done carving them out of wood. J/K, J/K. I prefer to be pessimistic, then when things turn out just OK, I am deliriously happy. But if they turn out badly, hey, I was expecting it, no big deal. This stems from my optimisti...

Personally, I think the whole field of alternative inputs is dying. Used to be I'd be able to find dozens upon dozens of unique alternatives, now its down to maybe a dozen and most of those are just 'ergo' keyboards. I see humanity being adapted to a norm. I don't see as much interest in trying diff...

That's bloody amazing. I sincerely hope it works out but I am sceptical. We know they aren't making them anymore. So its got to be from stash. I looked at the listing but couldn't find any indication of how many they have and who the seller is. Maybe you put it in your cart for that. Anyway, I hope ...

Well, its not been just this, there's the huge leaps in the iPod controls, not to mention the new little touchscreens on the notebboks. I mean, it all adds up, slowly but surely. Not that I've seen in everything suggested so far as much as they could have had by just selling the Mac-N-Touch boards, ...

A new Apple Patent based on capacitance

Check out the new Apple patent employing an FW like feature.

about half-way down the page. Uses the capacitance of the user to 'arm' the touch screen for use. Pretty neat effect, might say classical Apple.

Actually, it was a group of inmates in a women's penitentary on Tasmania back in the 1800s.

See http://www.boingboing.net/2006/07/09/us ... sh_mo.html

And they took the term 'flash' literally.

My main impetus was my medical problems. I have suffered with chronic pain for a long time, just recently discovering I have osteoporosis which is likely the cause of the pain, at the very least a major contributor. I simply can't sit in a regular chair for more than 10 to 15 minutes. I've tried all...

Just to ease your mind a bit, but if you hadn't told them about the TS but instead mentioned you had a USB card reader, they would have blamed it on that. Or the USB light or the USB charger, or the USB hub or the USB Drive Enclosure. That's not to say it isn't the TS, but rather to say that you sho...

Thanks Torben, I was in a bit of a mood yesterday. Good on you ivanw. I agree, we do seem to be a bit short on lifetimes and it is best to say what you have to while you can. Which is what I usually try to do. Apple has never been anything other than a corporation, though to a greater degree than mo...
