Re: Colemak: Dvorak is so last century

Yep, platform availability is a huge factor, and also hands-down the most important reason why I've now also chosen to learn Dvorak and none of the other (more enticing!) alternatives. If I were only using Linux machines, it would probably be easy, but my Windows workstation at work is locked down p...

Re: Suggestion: U.S. International & MacNTouch / DigiTouch

I was thinking to add something into the TSLP configuration. I didn't realize that your Ctrl+Alt examples were actual mappings. Here's a poor-man's excerpt from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306560 Press this key ----------- Then press this key ------ Resulting character '(APOSTROPHE) --------- c,...

Re: Suggestion: U.S. International & MacNTouch / DigiTouch

I don't know if I missed it originally but I came across this just now. Using combos with dead keys (that's what they're called, although zombie keys might be more fitting because they turn out to not be really dead after all!) is a neat trick that gives me a new idea: I'm wondering whether I can de...

Re: Colemak: Dvorak is so last century

Colemak is nice and all, but there's an even better layout, proven by statistical evaluation. It's called the Workman layout and it looks interesting. My biggest concerns are a lack of international characters, and lack of OS support. Of course Linux has it covered, but Windows and Android ... not s...

Re: New Apple iPad Multi-Touch Keyboard

This looks interesting! Thank you for sharing. I'm glad to see that they are *finally* doing something in the keyboard area! It's no surprise that they are going to use it for the iPad first. Perhaps a desktop model will follow, and (*really* perhaps) that desktop model could be used with non-Macs a...

It's sad to see that our devices aren't getting higher prices anymore. I guess it mostly indicates a shrinking user base; too few people who understand and appreciate the devices.

TouchStream customer review on Amazon

Did you know that Amazon has a product page for the TouchStream? So far it has four 5-star reviews, and I have just submitted another one. TouchStream LP QWERTY product page on Amazon Linking to this page would be convenient when offering FingerWorks devices for sale. Thanks to Kåre for posting this...

Re: Hello From Los Angeles!

@jmadison, I used to have a TSLP on my desk at work but the cleaning ladies are so careless that I come back to a rather disrupted desk in the morning. I don't want to risk any damage to this unit, so I'd rather have it as a spare than have it damaged by others. I have a TLSP at home with a Danish l...

Re: Hello From Los Angeles!

Hi Ron - and welcome! The point in the cable that you mention is known to be a weak point, but as you already figured out, the fix is fairly uncomplicated: pop it open and re-solder the cable. The biggest hurdle is opening the case. There are a number of locking tabs along all four sides, and it's v...

Yes, you might want to re-list every two months or so. Some people are not looking all the time. I'm subscribing to a search but I'm sure most people simply take an occasional look.

Re: What is the typing surface made of?

I can confirm this; I also remember that it's lexan. It was mentioned on the original website which also stated that the lexan is clear and the layout is printed on the underside to make you you won't ever be able to rub it off during use. The sample Digitouch I received came disassembled and includ...

It's been a good run for the Touchstream keyboards. But at this point, they've been gone for longer than they've been around. Ouch. Seriously, I had not realized that. What a revelation! Thank you for opening my eyes. Frankly I don't think we'll see anything like the TouchStream ever again. Apple g...

Re: Kyrstellaine

Dammit Dustin, now you got me looking at TypeMatrix keyboards! If they made a wireless version I'd be all over it already. It's been a long time since I last looked at that. The prices seem to have gone down a fair bit; certainly they're more affordable than the FW devices (dammit again!). Don't you...

With any luck, the "Bad Behavior" plugin that I know and love from WordPress would also be available for phpBB so that might be a solution:

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

Yes you're right, it is "just" Java. But the problem is that the FingerWorks software was written to work on a (now) very old Java version, so the software won't run on modern Java's anymore. What's worse, the old (FW-compatible) Java won't run on newer OS versions like WinVista, Win7, and newer Lin...

Re: Annoying automatic left/right hand recognition, iGesture

Anyway, thanks @all for commiserating. Hey that is the very least we can do, David... :( I'm wondering whether this can be a hardware malfunction, because if it were software (or firmware, same thing) then it would be a consistent behaviour. Do you have the FW software installed ? Is there any chan...

Re: Annoying automatic left/right hand recognition, iGesture

If you suspect it's neither a configuration nor a hardware fault, then try to adjust the "hand size" setting. On my TSLP, I found that the medium hand size worked better for me even though I do have fairly large hands. Keep in mind that the hand size looks smaller of course when you bend your finger...

I'm really sorry to hear that this problem hasn't been solved yet, David. It's good that you post again. - Have you run the device diagnostics, does the board pass with all green sensors? - Have you tried a complete software reset, i.e. load the default firmware onto the device again? This will wipe...
