Re: Trouble with my TS LP

Way back when, on the old forum, someone suggested some guitar cleaner and I bought a couple bottles. They work fine. I also recall people suggesting Lysol - I mostly remember it because Euro users didn't know what it was. I would suggest spraying some on a rag or wad of paper towels, and then wipe ...

Re: Trouble with my TS LP

In my experience, cleaning the surface should help. I'm not sure if it's stray static or it's just grim on the surface, but when I have these problems, even vigorous scrubbing of the surface with my tshirt helps.

Re: Running multitouch utilities in Lion

IIRC, I don't think the problem was with running the configurator. The problem was doing the upload because of the java usb driver. I think. It's been a while since I've been motivated enough to change my keyboard configurations :).

Re: Brainstorm: How to enhance the Touchstream haptic experi

I think using clear nail polish around the keys could have merit. They will cause mouse pointer drift as your fingers go up and down across the nail polish, much like what happens when your fingers goes over the dimples. My only problem with nail polish is that they will be hard to remove non-destru...

Re: Touchstream keyboard for sale

Most regular eBay users use software for sniping. I find it annoying, but it's the way the game is played, and you need to play by their rules.

Re: Brainstorm: How to enhance the Touchstream haptic experi

My original solution to learning how to touch type on the Touchstream involved enabling keystroke sounds and resting my palms/wrists on the wristrests that's part of the tent. I'm not actually typing on a Touchstream at the moment, so I can't really say as to what I do. I've been meaning to bring my...

Re: An update on the anti-spam efforts

If the system can send an email every time there's something that needs moderation, I can help with that.

If it's something I need to remember to check every day, without prompting, I'll be in the same boat as you Torben :). But I'm still willing to try to help.

Agreed. $550 is close to how much they cost when new. Very lucky.

Re: iGesture Numpad needs repair

@srunquist: Have you tried running the diag software with it? Of course, if you're not running an old OS (like XP or linux with a 2.2 kernel) then that may be a lot harder than it should be. @The00Dustin: The iGesture Numpad wouldn't have a ribbon cable. It's quite possible the USB cable <-> PCB int...

Re: Windows meta key

Instead of using a blank key, you could use the "hand key" which, when mapped as a Windows device, acts like the Win key.

Re: Random Characters get typed

I would suggest cleaning the typing/pointing surface again. I have found that cleaning them helps with stray static that seems to show up in the spring and in the fall.

Re: How to not appear slacking?

Back when I first started learning to use the TouchStream, I had enabled keystroke sounds, so I was getting positive reinforcement that I was typing. I eventually turned it off, but turned it back on when I got my MacNTouch - the layout was a little different. Again, turned it off when I felt comfor...

Re: Where have all the users gone?

I'm getting the feeling that this site has outlived itself. I count less than 5 regular visitors , even if I include myself. That is not a lot, especially considering that we have nearly 200 registered users (after removing all the spammers). I would say it's just a matter of the lack of any real n...

Re: Magic Touchpad drivers for Windows XP?

This URL seems to have a bit more info, and links to the correct files and steps needed to get the Magic Trackpad to work with Windows. Of course, without a utility like BetterTouchTool for Windows, the Magic Trackpad is still limited by the small number of gestures that Apple officially supports.

Re: Converting from Qwerty to Dvorak layout?

While learning Dvorak, I tried a couple different approaches for relabeling the keys on the surface. On the Stealth at home, I wrote the letters of layout on the surface with a silver Sharpie marker. Over time, the ink would wear off from sliding my fingers over it and I would need to rewrite the le...

Re: User Poll: Are you still using your FingerWorks device?

I still use my old TouchStream Stealth (the version that came before the LP that's securely attached to the tent stand) on my Windows 7 box at home pretty much every day. Its sensitivity to static electricity can drive me crazy at times. This computer is next to the couch, so I use it while sitting ...

Re: Disassembling a FW keyboard

Sorry, I don't have any hints on disassembling the TouchStream. But one thing to keep in mind, in all the years I have owned my FingerWorks devices, when the weather changes, the static fields on the surface of the device seem to change a bit. I find that I need to do the 5x hand-tap more often, or ...

We bought a Magic Trackpad for the iMac and I am very happy with it, matched with BetterTouchTool, of course. The biggest advantage is that I can configure it to match my MacBook Pro's touchpad. Sure, the large variety of gestures found in the old iGesture and TouchStream devices aren't available, b...

The devices work fine, since they're just USB HID keyboard and mice, to the OS. The problem is that with the current (old) Java tools, there's no way to program the devices, at least with W7 x64. Not surprisingly, the XP mode VM won't detect it either.

Using Multitouch Utils with Windows 7 (x64) ?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck in getting the Multitouch Utils to work with Windows 7, let alone the x64 version. There seems to be posts about getting it working with Vista, but they're not available at this time. :?:
