Re: How many of us are left? Does a forum still make sense?

Thanks for the pointer to the "subscribe forum" feature, I'll be sure to do that so I can find out when people post here. And also thanks for giving me hope that the number of people left using these on a regular basis is still in at least the double digits. I was afraid I was close to the...

How many of us are left? Does a forum still make sense?

I sometimes wonder how many people are left who regularly use Fingerworks products. I try to check in here every few months (sometimes longer), but there's only a few posts a year at most. Having the forum broken out into sections seems a little silly when most haven't been posted to in years. Is it...

Re: FingerWorks MultiTouch Utilities - Linux

Here's another reminder to please post the 1.60 Linux software. I'd really like to put together a VM image for configuring Fingerworks devices that doesn't have the licensing issues that XP does.

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

It's all Java based under the hood, isn't it? So it should be possible to get working on a Linux VM Image (which would avoid licensing issues) or repackage it for the newest versions of Windows & Mac. I've been meaning to figure it out, but haven't found the time to do so yet.

Re: Buying remaining devices from University of Delaware?

That is pretty neat. I've noticed that the eBay prices have been dropping quite a bit from their peak. I had somewhat been wondering if there's just a lot less demand or whether more devices had been showing up in places or what. Perhaps both. I'd love to see these details.

Thank you so much! Now that it looks that the gag order is lifted(‽), perhaps we'll get to see a lot more about the internals and what happened at Fingerworks.

Re: What is the future of Fingerfans?

I make sure to check here every couple of weeks. I'd love there to be some kind of community, especially as maintaining these devices (replacing ribbon cables when needed and the like) is something where we could really use each others' expertise. I really appreciate the effort in keeping this all r...

Re: Half dead touchstream for sale (germany)

If it's the left half that's dead, it's probably just that the ribbon cable needs replacing. So it may be closer to working than you think.

Re: Xwinder - how does it work?

I believe that it uses the accessibility features of the operating system, which are designed for tools like this that interface with nontraditional input devices, as well as some some software utilities to help make systems more usable for various sets of people. I don't really have a lot of detail...

Re: wonky left pad on Touchstream LP

In my experience, problems on the left half are almost always due to the middle ribbon cable. I'd recommend trying to replace it if the unit is becoming basically unusable. The ribbon cable part number is DigiKey HF26U-03-ND. Might be completely unrelated to your problem, of course, but it's what I'...

Re: Silver TouchStream LP Dvorak an eBay

I'm keeping my eye on it. I have a burgundy qwerty and a dvorak now (one for work and one for home), and the silver is so nice-looking, and I think I want a spare… But I can't really justify $625 for a spare for myself, though I hope it's worth at least that. But I'll take it for $300, if the market...
