Gel pads / replacement wanted

After so many years of service, my touchstream keyboard stand has started to fall apart. Mainly the gel pads. Has anyone got a stand they no longer need or can recommend replacement gel pads?

Thanks,

Max

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

Actually, I'd just like to say a thank you to (you) Torben, for keeping this community alive. I may only pop in every now and again but I am always thankful that it is here and for your efforts.

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

device it disappears from the VM (goes into DFU mode). The VM software can see this USB device but it cannot map it to the VM OS, it says it's busy. Hmm, I vaguely remember running WinXP in some virtualization tool (wasn't Sun VirtualBox) on Win7 and I noticed this effect too -- the FW device prese...

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

The problem is that when the FW software reprograms the device it disappears from the VM (goes into DFU mode). The VM software can see this USB device but it cannot map it to the VM OS, it says it's busy. The FW software on the VM then times out because it never gets to detect the keyboard. I've now...

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

Progress, but still no good. I can install V1.6 of the Fingerworks utilities if I download the JRE6 from Oracle. During the install I can select the JRE from the 1.5.3 install. I can then run the utils. However, I still cannot apply changes to the keyboard because of the USB issue when the keyboard ...

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

Thanks for all the help. I have tried the four corner touch and setting the keboard to DVORAK. It claims it has changed the layout, but the keyboard mapping does not change (it remains mapped go QWERTY). Does this work for anyone else? Also, I am unable to install the V1.6 utilities, even if I have ...

Re: Fully working FingerWorks software in a virtual machine

Ok, I have a OracleBox VM running with a Windows XP image. I can map my keyboard through to the VM and see it in the Multitouch utilities. But I have multiple issues: 1) The only version of the utilities I can find which includes Java is V1.5.3. This runs and can locate my keyboard, but this runs V1...

I have a VM set up with Windows XP. How do I get the correct version of Java to get the utilities working?

What is the typing surface made of?

Does anyone know what the typing surface on a Touchstream is made of? If you wanted a custom layout printed on a similar material, where would you go for a one-off?

Re: Wanted DVORAK touchstream

Hi Minox,

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I'm after the split layout of the normal touchstream ST, not the MacNTouch, so will pass.

Also, does anyone have any broken DVORAK touchstreams they might want to sell (with stand)?

Thanks,

Max

Wanted DVORAK touchstream

If anyone is looking to sell a DVORAK touchstream, I'd be interested in buying one. Send me a message if you want to sell. I am in the UK.

Re: Amazon & Fingerworks

It seems everyone thinks the worst, but here's what I think: DVORAK didn't sell as well as QWERTY, so they are dumping the inventory -- either via Apple, or per contract, via Fingerworks. I do believe they have them, but I also think the lead times are despicable. But, supply and demand being what ...

I have an inkjet color printer, which has the benefit that I can make colored paper overlays, but with the downsides you mention. Perhaps one should experiment with printing on overhead foils of varying texture to see if that's a closer match to the original surface? I have not done this myself bec...

To reiterate, try reflashing your device on another PC. I have one PC that seems unable to reflash my Touchstream (and reports similar errors to the ones you have described), but on another PC I can upgrade the firmware without problems. Odd.

Re: same problem here

Fixed it! I made sure the tap action for the left handed gesture was set to 'Hold punctpad on'. That seems to have done the trick! Max Update, still can't get the programmers' pad to work on the QWERTZ model. I have tried playing with various options. Perhaps I need to reset it and start again. Out ...

When I do it, it brings up "the history of torture through the ages" - QWERTY keyboards spring to mind, and for many a Touchstream ends torture through reduction of RSI symptoms. It is also 'torture' for many, not being able to buy Touchstreams any more. Somewhat ironic ...

Froogle oddity ...

Go to froogle uk and search for Touchstream ... see what it comes up with (not a Touchstream BTW before anyone gets too excited). That's how I feel about standard keyboards these days and the non availability of Touchstream keyboards ... This link may work .... http://froogle.google.co.uk/froogle?so...

Re: same problem here

Thank you for the interesting observations. It does indeed look like some settings may be overriding the programmers' pad setting. Perhaps it is time to do some more playing around. The only problem is that my home PC doesn't seem to like reprogramming the Touchstream. I'll see how I go. I have a QW...
