Re: How many of us are left? Does a forum still make sense?

Hi Peter! It seems that the FingerWorks users are slowly going extinct. There were never many of us in the first place. I must admit that I sold off my own devices a while ago, and I have barely visited this site since then, except for admin tasks. If you look at the memberlist , you'll see that 8 u...

Re: DigiTouch for sale (MacNTouch with enclosure)

Update: A happy buyer in Los Angeles bought it for $300 plus shipping. I'm sure it will go to a good home.

And with that, I no longer have any FingerWorks devices left :'-(

DigiTouch for sale (MacNTouch with enclosure)

Hi all, I have sold off all my FingerWorks devices except this one, but I haven't used it in ages so I have decided to part with it. Make me an offer! ( Ebay link ) One piece of trivia: This is not just " a DigiTouch". This is " the first DigiTouch": it's the first one they relea...

Re: Replacing USB cable?

Aloha! Long time no chat.

The black plastic frames have several internal clips along every side, so opening them up means a lot of fiddly work with a thin blade. Be careful not to break (all) those tiny clips; use small drops of super glue to keep the frame closed again afterward if needed.

Re: Middle mouse drag unpredictable

I don't know Maya but it's very odd that you say it works fine with a mouse, because the application does not know that you are NOT using a mouse. For all practical purposes, that's just a normal USB mouse you have there. Some thoughts come to mind: Are you not seeing this behavior in other applicat...

Re: TouchStream on ebay

For what it's worth, I (used to) maintain a spreadsheet with all Ebay listings. This is very useful for figuring out the current market rate for the various FW devices. It's an open document, anyone can edit it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r0639mEJqtSL7plrMxaR72BvBNW9mGnUyjTZV-YLF1A/edit...

Re: A New Hope

Another quick update: A little more maintenance work was done. Users won't notice but the admins will (hopefully!) notice even better antispam results now. Specifically, the forum's "Automod" modification engine has been upgraded to the newest version, so that the antispam plugin becomes m...

Re: A New Hope

Another quick update:
The antispam plugin is frequently updated, and I am keeping up with installing each new version as it arrives. I can see that the plugin results become better with each new version. I am hopeful that this is a stable path for our forum.

Re: Building a FW device into a desk?!

if the DigiTouch is reprogrammable with the same utilities the other FingerWorks devices were Oh absolutely; it's simply the good odl MacNTouch device in a plastic case and an USB cable attached. My challenge is that I have a Dvorak layout on it (and I have a loose US Qwerty sticker I could use ins...

Re: Building a FW device into a desk?!

Did you decide already if you are going to make something with your Digitouch? Thanks for those photos, it looks like a nice fit! I didn't decide to make it. I've put it in the marketplace, haven't gotten around to Ebay yet. As useful as the DigiTouch is, my biggest challenge is that I don't use th...

The wiki is back online!

The good news: The wiki is back online! 8) It's linked at the end of the forum start page, and it's also here: http://fingerfans.dreamhosters.com/bin/view The bad news: I'm an idiot. It's been offline for so long, yet all it took was fixing two lines in one config file. At some point in the ...

Re: Building a FW device into a desk?!

I remember the Ergodex - I thought it was a cool idea! Did you make any photos of your build? I have absolutely zero experience with using a router (the woodworking kind) and I would probably ask a friend for help. I think the corners would have to be hand-carved but the real trick is to make the ed...

Selling a DigiTouch (Dvorak and Qwerty)

Hey all! I had already sold my two iGesture NumPads some years back, and this fall I made a hard choice ... I sold my beloved TouchStream (Danish layout: very rare, and uniquely useful to me) as well as my backup US Qwerty TouchStream; I know they both went to good homes. So now all that remains is ...

Re: Should we have a domain?

Aloha Rqyteqto - it seems you got the final word in that, eh? It's been a full decade(!) since "phill" gave us a year tops, and this place is still around. A decade online is line a century in the real world. Ha!

Building a FW device into a desk?!

I was just reviewing the material I have for my last remaining FW device -- a DigiTouch/MacNTouch -- and the thought struck me: What if I cut a recess into my desk that perfectly matches the DigiTouch surface? I'm thinking I'd have to use a router like this one to route a rectangular recess into my ...

Resolved.

This was necessary in order to fix some broken stuff so that I could install the new anti-spam plugin.

Re: A New Hope

I've gotten a round tuit! (get it?) I've now installed that new anti-spam plugin I mentioned, and I've enabled the new user registration again. Let's see whether the spammers can get past that! I'm keeping a close eye on the spam log now. Update: The spam log shows that several spammers have already...

A little bit of downtime

Hi all, this site is experiencing some outages these days, but I'm working to address it. Don't worry though: the site is not damaged and it will not go offline. I intend to keep this online for years still. As for the actual cause, it's spam... It looks like some of my other sites are (also) gettin...

Revive the wiki?

I had reason to revisit some of our old content and noticed that our wiki is not operational, so all the text and images that was there is technically still there but it's not being offered by the web server. :( I'm putting this note here mostly to remind myself of a loose end to be adressed -- a ni...

Re: Touchstream (pref DVORAK)

Hi Lee, Yes it's still available. As I mentioned, it's regular US QWERTY in purple, complete in original packaging. I bought it for USD 500 and would accept to sell it for the same price, plus shipping. I can send you some photos so you can see it's in good condition. You can also mail me at torben@...

Re: A New Hope

Every single time I see an Ebay auction for a FingerWorks device, I contact the seller and ask them post a link to this site. It's a nice service to the future owner, and it might even help the seller by showing that users can still get support on these devices. It's not much in the way of marketing...

Re: 3D Printed Keyboard Stand

Those look very nice indeed! I'm guessing you have some kind on non-slip sticker underneath them, right? Could you export that 3D shape into a standard format and upload it here so that others can benefit from it? I have zero experience with 3D printers but I imagine there must be something analogou...

A New Hope

I've come across the CleanTalk anti-spam service that is: 1) extremely effective on my blog that was also inundated with spam comments and spam registrations, 2) very affordable: only $8 per year . I'd like to use the service for this forum as well. The plugin is now installed but it's not activated...
