Odd thing for me to get this to work. I have to unplug it first start up the VM session then plug it into a port ON the computer box then use another USB mouse to make the changes and load them.

i'm thinking that they should be able to replace it easily. just pop the cover (you should find some pics somewhere) and solder in a new cable you cut up. just use the old cable to test out the pinning.

i'm not sure but you can do a search here for replacing or extending the cable; some folks have put in longer cables and i think FW actually gave out instructions on how to due it but voided the warranty 80)
