Re: A collection of three TouchStreams for sale

No, I didn't get any offers here, but I think very few people read this forum anymore. I was too lazy to put the keyboards up on eBay :-) (but I'll do it within several weeks)

A collection of three TouchStreams for sale

Hey everyone, It's been a while since I last used my TouchStreams and as I'm moving, I decided to sell them. Bought more than one in the past to have a future-proof solution in case one breaks down. There are three keyboards: * Silver TouchStream LP with stand * Red TouchStream LP with stand * Red T...

Hmm.

Hmm, I'm not sure if that will work. Here's what I currently have for these gestures (a sample): <ChordTemplate macro_name="Emacs IDE (Neutral)" lib="user" speed_param_ref="Medium Command-Gesture Sensitivity"> <GestureCategories list=" emacs_op" /> <Sl...

How to enable all gestures, independent of current OS Mode?

So, how do I enable ALL gestures in all OS modes? I've gotten used to left-hand Emacs gestures (thumb+2 fingers), but now after having moved from Linux to a Mac, I mostly use the keyboard in Mac mode. But why oh why did someone decide that in Mac mode the Emacs gestures aren't necessary? What about ...

Wishing for at least the MultiTouch Utilities to work

Well, I've just moved to a Mac and I wish at least multitouch utilities would work. They don't work on an intel mac because of the jusb library. I've built the jusb library myself, but the utilities still won't work for some other reason, which I'm unable to resolve. Why not opensource the multitouc...

Touchstream repaired!

My touchstream has just been repaired by friendly people with proper equipment. This would have been much, much harder without tips from pythagoras -- many thanks to him for the extensive repair hints! To recap the story, I had a keyboard zapped by a static discharge, with 1/4 of the surface complet...

Xilinx FPGA codes

Luckily the FPGAs did not have the read protect bit set and we were able to read the codes off them. I have them stored for future reference.

Pictures of the right half

For all those interested, I've posted pictures of the right half of the keyboard, at http://jan.rychter.com/articles/2006/touchstream/opening.ucw . You can see how the board with the CPU looks like :-) It seems that indeed one of the Xilinx FPGAs has failed in my keyboard. We'll have a try at it wit...

Making progress...

Hey, some news on the repair front. The right half of my failed TouchStream has been opened and boards desoldered. Several components have been replaced, but it seems that indeed the problem is with one of the Xilinx FPGAs. Many thanks to pythagoras for the tips, they are extremely helpful. Next thi...

Pictures, finally

Ah, well, it took a while. I've been busy with lots of other things with no time left to take the pictures. But now, in case you're interested, you can see how a TouchStream LP looks inside.

Thanks...

Another brief update: even though it is the left half of one of my TouchStreams that is malfunctioning, the defect seems to be in the right half. I swapped in the left half from a keyboard that works, but powers up only once every several tries. The resulting keyboard had exactly the same problem: t...

Opening up a TouchStream...

Given that I lost all hope of hearing back from FingerWorks support regarding my broken TouchStream keyboard, I decided to take things into my own hands and at least take a look inside. Opening the keyboard isn't very difficult, but requires a lot of care. I did it with two screwdrivers, using one t...

Perhaps in the future...

Yes, I have seen his posting. But I'm reluctant to part with any of my TouchStream keyboards because of the FingerWorks demise -- I'm still hoping that I will be able to repair the one that is one quarter dead and I can somewhat live with the other one, it just takes a couple of tries before it star...

I'm trying to find out how serious it is...

Thanks for your reply. I know that the problem with one of my TouchStream keyboards is definitely a serious one. I'm just trying to figure out whether repairing the keyboard involves replacing just a single chip or whether I need really expensive and hard to get parts, possibly custom manufactured f...

Repair hints for TouchStream LP

I have two FingerWorks TouchStream keyboards that are broken and I am seeking advice on how to repair them, now that FingerWorks has gone out of business. On one of the keyboards the upper left quarter is dead, killed by static. It was very obviously caused by a static discharge, it seems I wasn't c...
