|
|
Judging by the amount of preliminary sign-ups, there are enough DigiTouch units for those interested. I have received this order form to post here, and Stenovations requests that we use that form to order our units. I know this is a different procedure than suggested at the top of this discussion, but please remember that it was merely a suggestion and Eric didn't explicitly accept or reject it.
Link has been fixed!
So please download this order form. Here are the details that you must know, straight from Stenovations:
---------------------------------------------------------
Each board will sale for $300.00 each U.S.
Shipping within the U.S. will be $25.00
Shipping outside the U.S. will be $50.00 (I will ship as fast as this amount will allow)
There are multiple colors available: Black, White, Red and countless other colors.
We will take payment from Visa, Master Card, American Express, and check.
We would prefer to have the order form either faxed or mailed to the address at the bottom of the order form.
Thanks,
Eric J. Jackson
General Manager
Stenovations, Inc.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Eric (and Torben) for making these keyboards available in a fair and professional manner.
I feel much more comfortable now I know I have a backup for my TS.
Daniel.

|

When my DigiTouch arrived, it didn't work out of the box. It wasn't sending mouse or keyboard events on either OS X or WinXP. After upgrading the firmware from 1.4 to 1.6, it works great!
You can find the firmware here:
http://fingerfans.dreamhosters.com/bin/view/Main/DownloadArea
To get the Multitouch Utility to launch on an Intel Mac, you have to replace the libjusbMacOSX.jnilib file with the new version found on that page, which is compiled aas a Universal Binary. |

Dear Forum Members,
I would like to ask a couple of things from you. Please communicate with me about interest for the keyboard by sending in the fax. If you call my business line, you will end up talking to Stenovations tech support or sales persons (who have nothing to do with these keyboards). I am having people enquiring about these keyboards to our sales reps around the country. Please try to understand that they are paid to perform other duties and dealing with these DigiTouch/FingerWorks sales is taking them away from their job. In fact if you were to account for the time I am taking to do this, it would be safe to say that the company is loosing significant amounts money for what they are paying me verses the cost I am charging for the keyboards.
Second, I am being asked more and more to sell only the enclosures (without the circuit board). I am very hesitant to do this because these could easily end up on EBay for some outrageous cost. Please be on the lookout for anything on EBay that might have been purchase from me. I wish there was a way to eliminate this possibility all together but I do not believe there is.
Thanks,
Eric J. Jackson |

Ejack83, could you please elaborate on the available colors? I would like a metallic silver one if they exist. I know only of the red, black and white. _________________ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

|
|
Any concern about static shocks from the plastic enclosure sliding in/out of the fleece bag? I'm interested in ordering one, but I'd be carrying it 5 days/wk, and I'd like to be sure it can hold up to that.
I understand that these were designed for stenographers and court reporters -- i.e., they're "portable" by design. But:(1) Static is the leading cause of death of these keyboards, and
(2) The only clothing I own that regularly generates shocks (of the static variety ) is made of fleece...
Thanks,
Damon Brinson |

I finally got around to faxing in my order at the end of last week. Eric shipped my order out today. I also asked him how many he had left and he said "about 50".
I figured others would like to know, so that they don't wait too long to get the last known source of new FingerWorks keyboards. _________________ TouchStream Mini - February 26, 2002 - Sold

I would also like a list of all available colors. And as of 06/05 there were still about 50 available. Is this still a fair approximation of the number of available units? I want to get my order in ASAP. But, need to know my available options before I can do so.
Thanks.

If you look at the original post about the Stenovations DigiTouch, Eric and/or Torben mentions that they have black, white and red enclosures for the DigiTouches. With that info, I had ordered one in black and one in white.
Note: the 2 I got were pre-assembled. So there is no need to go find a Torx size 8 screwdriver/bit to assemble yours, unless you plan on disassembling them (which I want to do with one of mine). _________________ TouchStream Mini - February 26, 2002 - Sold

| And wouldn't you know it, as soon as I took the DigiTouch out from its plastic bag, zap! static discharge from my fingers to the enclosure. Fortunately, no harm done. But after playing with it for a few minutes, and upgrading to the 1.6 firmware, and making sure everything was in working order, I put it back into the plastic bag and put plastic bag back into the DHL box. I ain't touching it again until the antistatic mat and wrist strap that I ordered yesterday arrive. |

Thanks for the update that they're still available. It's good to know and there is still a chance to order one of these rare units!
Seems like you had a close call there. Glad that nothing happened! _________________ TorbenGB - webmaster & forum admin

Well, so far I have heard absolutely nothing back. I sent in the order weeks ago and have also emailed and left voice messages for Eric the general manager who handles this... I don't know what to think...
Anyone else know anything about this? |

Phoned one last time, Eric still seems to work there but I was told he was busy, and so I left another message. It has been weeks and not even the courtesy to leave me a voice mail and explain if these things are no longer available. I am baffled by this behavior, as I would think if it is no longer for sale he would want to let us know so we could take down the offer in this forum.
At any rate this door appears to be closed. Who knows, maybe they got a cease and desist from Apple?

Indeed. Very sad. I was really hoping to get one (or two) spares. Now mine broke and I need one or two to use.....and I can't get them. Grrr..... Stupid apple....buying technology people like. If you own it, make us a new keyboard. </rant> |

Man, ever since I've discovered these about 6 months ago I've been dying for one. I just can't bring myself to spend $600 on a keyboard. The last 3 Touchstreams on ebay I bid on went for $930, 8ish and 7 something. I really am dying for one. so if someone has an old iGesture pad or anything really, I'd love to buy in from you and compensate you for a reasonable amount.
I read that Stenovations Digitouch ad and my heart sank when I saw the posting date. Still, like a failthful Mormon, I sent in my order form to the fax number, but to no avail. I feel like Mike Myers in Waynes World staring at the guitar in the window saying "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine."
Anyway if anyone knows where I can get one or wants to help a fellow fingerfan out I'd love to hear from you: jadwgis732 at gmail or 848-667-6800. The name is Jonas |

Maybe phone harassment is the way to go in order to have someone at Stenovation reopen the box of old and dusty DigiTouch keyboards... |

I actually tried that. It was very difficult to get in touch with anyone who could help. In the end I gave up. |

Please, don't harass that business!
They are already stepping out of their way to help us, which has nothing to do with their business, and we should be thankful for the great service we have already received.
May I remind you of Eric's words earlier in this thread that the sales staff should not be burdened by this. _________________ TorbenGB - webmaster & forum admin

Harass is such a vague term. Trying to get someone to give me a direct number or email address isn't really harassment. More annoyance, really.
And I couldn't get a direct number, and emailing directly got no reply. |
